Peter N. Bethanis Sr.
Peter Bethanis Sr is a visual artist whose work is grounded in a lifetime of architectural practice. After decades of designing and constructing buildings, he turned his focus fully to drawing, bringing the same precision, structure, and clarity into his artwork.
Born in 1942 in Woodbury, New Jersey, Peter studied architecture and building technology at Temple University Institute. Encouraged by his father from an early age, he developed an interest in art, construction, and design that would shape both his career and artistic approach.
In 1974, Peter relocated his family to rural Maine, where he established a long and prolific professional life. Over several decades, he designed more than 300 buildings, personally constructed approximately 50 through his own general construction company, and opened his own architectural practice in 1981.
Known for his skill in architectural drafting and rendering, his work was defined by precision, control, and technical clarity. The same disciplined approach that guided his architectural career continues to shape his visual art today.
